General Post-Operative Instructions
1. Dogs and cats must be kept indoors after surgery. Restrict activity for the next seven (7) days – no running, jumping, playing. Keep pets on leash when outside. Take stairs slowly and one step at a time. No jumping into and out of vehicles or onto and off of furniture.
Due to the lingering effects of anesthesia, your pet may be sedated or groggy this evening. Sedation may last 24 hours.
4. Do not offer food to patients immediately upon returning home. Anticipate possible gastrointestinal upset after anesthesia. Restrict your dog or cat from any food or water for at least four (4) hours this evening. You may provide one or two ice cubes to lick or chew during this time. You may give a small amount of your pet’s normal food and small amount of water after the the initial four hours has elapsed.
5. A special head collar may have been sent home with your pet. Keep this Elizabethan collar on at all times for 10-14 days after surgery. This barrier is necessary to prevent your pet from over-grooming, licking or chewing at the incision site.
6. A small amount of seeping blood or serous discharge is normal for a few days following surgery, especially in the first 24 hours. You may notice some bruising or minor swelling near the incision. If you notice any continued drainage or swelling, contact the spay/neuter clinic as soon as possible.
7.Do not apply ointments or creams to the incision unless specifically directed by the veterinarian.Do not bathe or allow your pet to swim for at least 10-14 days after surgery. Gently towel dry the incision site if your pet becomes wet.

Correct procedure to report animal abuse acording to CR law

One of the biggest concerns in our animal lovers is the fact to know…. does animals have legal protection in CR? Well… talking about criminal judicial system they do, but not as a felony, animal abuse is considered as a minor felony. Which is the correct procedure to report animal abuse in court? Collect all the evidence, pictures, witness, videos, 911 calls, call the police and ask them to go to the scene and do a written report. Then go to the court ( Juzgado Contravencional) where the facts have been taken place, present your self and and tell the person what you are for, you can do all this face to face conversation or by written. You´ll receive a call from them and the judge will notify you and the acused person one specific day in order you and the other part to present. Dont forget that day you shoukd take your witness with you, because if the negociation fails, the judge inmediately start the trail. This is a kind of little trail, the judge will listen both of you and the evidence that have been presented to. Remember the acused person has the right to be represented by a public defender provided by the goverment, you dont, but in case you think you need legal assistance you can go with your lawyer. 24 hrs later the judge will give you the veredict.
Civil actions in civil procedures, could be presented as a part of the charging process for damages, specially in high price animals such horses or expensive dogs, but this is a totally independence procedure that has nothing to do with the minor felony. You might be wonder what about my most beloved mutt??? Well the question here is: Are CR court rooms prepare to see animals as a living creatures with a sentimental value? In my oppinion they should.
