Happy mother´s day

For all the times you gently picked me up, When I fell down, For all the times you tied my shoes
And tucked me into bed, Or needed something, But put me first instead.
For everything we shared, The dreams, the laughter, And the tears, I love you with a “Special Love”
That deepens every year…

Slappy our squirrel

10:05 PM by lilian

A baby squirrel raised alone without other baby squirrels has a greatly reduced chance of a successful release, so we need someone that knows, she is alone right now and being raise by volunteers.

If you find an injured squirrel, contact a licensed Wildlife Vet. for assistance, squirrels eat nuts, seeds, dried corn, fruits, twigs, buds, bark, leaves, roots, and mushrooms.

Avoid the temptation to feed your squirrel human treats because the bushy-tailed rodents are not easily weaned off unhealthy foods to which they become accustomed. Squirrels who are fed granola bars, crackers, candies, and the like may refuse the natural diet for which they were created.

"She is the fairies' midwife, and she comes in shape no bigger than an agate-stone... Her chariot is an empty hazel-nut, made by the joiner squirrel... And in this state she gallops night by night through lovers' brains, and then they dream of love..." - WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE, in "Romeo and Juliet."

Canine Flag Program

Our donors impact directly our work in AHPPA through their participation and financing of educational programes, national castration at low cost, and at the Veterinarian Hospital that has affordable prices. In kind donations of products and services are esential for our commitment with street animals and plants. Frankie is the coordinator of this program and her vision is to include the greatest force of our country: our people.

How can I help or participate? Send your requets through AHPPA web page and we will contact you soon.

Current Projects

Frankie and  Friends Program

Buying a t-shirt on line from our on line shop you are helping the Tortugas Lora Refuge at Hermosa and other specific cases of animal mistreat in the same community.

Think about it: you can buy t-shirts as your employee’s uniforms. Follow the example of Villa Creole Hotel! They have changed casual Friday for Canine Friday and that day their employees use the t-shirts. The travel agency Costarican Treasures got our key rings for their office and their employees.

Custums office Navia bought 2010 calendars as a Christmas gift for their clients.

High Schools, gyms, sport people or sport teams can use our t-shirts as uniform; we also have “dry fit” ones.

We also have towels, stickers, different kinds of t-shirts, key rings and piggy banks to distribute.

This money goes for each community we work at and we use it for low cost castrations, for visit rural places like Talamanca or for our Tortuga Lora Program at Hermosa.

Frankie visits schools and high schools in order to talk about how to avoid animal mistreat and how, together, we can solve and help animals and plants as a touristic country which has to give a good example to others. If you are part of our NGO you will receive a little gift from our work and a Frankie’s photo autographed. If you wish to participate send us your information to our website and we will contact you soon.

Telethon 2010

AHPPA is an NGO established since 1992, working for animals from the streets.
We have targeted for 2010 the first Telethon at a national level and as a foundation the Canine Flag Program in order to create alliances.

How can your company be a sponsor?
The Canine Flag Program is one way, from now on we work to achieve our goal 20,000,000 colones.
http://www.animalsheltercostarica.com/category/bandera-canina
All donations and account statements will be posted in 2 pages on a big board starting December 01, 2010 at (animalsheltercostarica.com) (teletoncanina.com).
The sponsors will receive a newsletter every 3 months with the latest statements and progress of the project starting March 2010. Only at the request of the sponsor we will maintain its identity private but the donation will be published with a code.

How to help?
Collection boxes in your company
Monthly active donor starting on January 2010 up to December 2010 when the Telethon takes place, for this we would need your logo. You will be given a formal receipt and tax exemption form.
A passive donor onetime donation. You will be given a formal receipt and tax exemption form.

Where does the money go?
We’ll start with a municipality at a time, since the first thing is to do is to check the lots available for the construction of a low-cost Shelter and Veterinary Clinic with graduated professionals led by Laura Villegas, our chief veterinarian at the shelter plus other community associations, of course having respect and taking into consideration AHPPA’s stand on only putting animals to sleep for humanitarian reasons and always giving animals castrated as a golden rule.
We would also like to see Talamanca added and having a veterinarian who can see cases in general visit more often, AHPPA would also like to visit once a week at first and build something permanent for that neglected area, we have been doing this twice a year.

If you would like to contact us you can send us an email to: (teletoncanina@gmail.com) or you can also contact us through our webpage.
You can make deposits to our only account under the name of A.H.P.P.A.
